One of the biggest issues most people face is how to get website traffic now with newer sites. In the beginning getting a site to be indexed to the point that you have a steady stream of traffic is your greatest hurdle.

Many websites on the Internet are very well established and have time and ranking behind them to keep the traffic flow running with very little work involved to keep that flow alive.

traffic basicsWith a new or relatively new site you have none of these advantages on your side. You must work harder to get to the point that the search engines favor what you have to offer and start to increase your ranking which will, in turn, increase your traffic.

Whether we like it or not, regardless of how great your site may look and how helpful it will be for the benefit of all who have the opportunity to come across it may be, traffic is crucial.

The number of visitors you’ll receive is all based on the amount of traffic your site gets. The higher ranking on all the search engines the more likely you’ll get the traffic you want or need for your business.

 

Purchasing Traffic

 

The only other way to receive higher traffic without having the ranking behind you is by purchasing ad campaigns such as Google Adwords for the Google search engine. Each Search Engine will have similar forms of ads you can purchase to put your content front page when people enter in their searches to their browser.

purchasing trafficThis method is very efficient and does work, but it all comes down to spending a budget to get regular results to make this form of traffic work. Generally the more you spend, the more it will work for you. How much you can spend, depends on the budget you can work with to pay for these ad campaigns.

Another form of traffic you can purchase are PPC through various websites that claim they have many users where you pay for the number of visitors they will send to your site. I do not recommend this form of traffic as it does nothing but increase your bounce rate as the so called visitors are just there clicking as fast as they can to make a buck for clicking through sites. You’ll receive no targeted qualified visitors here for your promotions. If you’re going to pay for traffic, then stick with the search engines ad campaigns and try your luck with them.

 

Free Traffic Methods

 

In this post, I want to offer you some free alternatives with just over fifty options you can use in your efforts for creating more traffic.

To be honest with you I haven’t even incorporated all of the different ways to create extra traffic from the lists I have below in the tabs.

These are methods that I have been learning about from the training with my provider and others from the communities I’m part of on the Web.

If you already have a site or just looking at getting started then there is information for all of you here.

For those of you that already have websites, you most likely are already doing some. I’m sure once you start going through the list you will recognize them, and you’ll undoubtedly see others that you’re not presently doing.

If you’re like me, you’ll want to add some of these methods to your arsenal and not bother to try and do all of them. There is only so much time in the day, and you can not fit them all in to be effective with everyone of them.

You’ll need to decide which ones will work best for you and your circumstances to what your website and business are all about forgetting the traffic you want. What works for me may not work for you and visa verse.

One simple example will be when using social media. There are so many social media platforms available; you do not have the time to use them all for creating traffic to your business and be actively involved with each and every one of them. You need to pick and chose which ones you feel will work best for you and your circumstances.

Hi there, I have a new website up and running – though not finished yet but I have considered going down of Adwords or PPC route but wasn’t sure which one to pick – but thanks to your information – I will be staying way clear of the PPC. Before I consider Adwords, Have you any idea on the costs involved?

    Hi Ryan, when you look into the cost of using Adwords with Google you’ll discover a couple of things.

    First, you need to set a budget for how much money you plan on spending in the run of a month. Once you know how much you want to spend per month, Google will divide that into a monthly cost breakdown to how much they will see about billing you per day for the advertising costs.

    Secondly, once your daily limit has been estimated from your monthly budget, You’ll decide on a cost amount per click you want to pay for each keyword or keyword phrase Google will charge you each time a visitor clicks on one of your ads. Google will showcase your ad according to your budget for exposure and the more people that click on it once it reaches the daily budget amount it will be removed. Google will run it each day until you hit your click rate to budget amount.

    So if your budget is $30.00 per month then you have a budget of $1.00 per day for most months. If you choose $0.40 per click then you’ll receive a possible 2 or more clicks depending on the actual click value. If the keyword comes in at $0.20 you’ll have 5 clicks that day and if they reach your full bid you’ll receive only 2 clicks etc.

Very good information on getting website traffic. Personally, I am glad to see some free options. I have done the Google Adwords and that has not really worked out to well for me because of my niche. It is just not something easily advertisible. Unless I am doing it wrong. Thanks for sharing this valuable information, glad I found your post!

    Either method can be hard depending on what your niche is as competition is something we must all deal with when operating an online business. Depending on the niche will also determine the cost per keyword or phrases as some can get very costly. Most people will look into an area for their niche where the keywords or phrases can be purchased cheaper and still use the marketing strategy for getting visitors to their site.

    Either way, you do it, the thought has to go into how you target your audience for the best over all performance for conversion. That is something every web owner must consider when using paid or free methods of getting traffic. It must be targeted for what you offer.

I have been blogging for about 3 years now and have never used any form of paid adverts to attract visitors.

I looked into it recently but it just seemed very expensive for an affiliate commission.

Do you think that paid ads work for some niches or are they really more for business who are actually selling the products?

I could perhaps imagine that it is profitable if you were marketing high value goods with a 40%+ commission, but at 4% on medium value goods it just seems bad business?

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

    Well, Kristian your right about the value of commission versus how much you pay to advertise. The better the commission or amount of money you earn per sale does make a big difference for cost acquisition. With this site, I use no paid advertising for traffic as this site is to reflect what anybody can do using all free and natural methods to achieve getting traffic. I do however pay for hosting through my Wealthy Affiliate membership as a premium member. People could use the free membership and pay for absolutely nothing, but you’d need to understand everything involved with building sites to marketing them for free while making sure you make all the right choices for proper SEO.

    The friends that I do have that pay out large sums of money for traffic $3000-$5000 a month have sites selling their own products/services. I have heard about people doing the Affiliate Programs and paying for their traffic, but I do not personally know the amounts or how well they are doing.

    I do know individuals who have their own products/services make more money generally than those selling at lower commissions from say Amazon. But as an affiliate, you have a lot less to deal with just promoting products/services than those who are required to take care of all aspects when promoting your own products/services.

    Most people that visit my site are not seasoned marketers if we want to call them that but rather newbies looking to get started knowing very little and in some cases nothing. This site is set up to give advice from knowing zero about online businesses to those who are in the know but are just looking for extra tips or ideas they may have over looked.

Hi there
You`ve written a post that`s a concern to many website owners(traffic) many bloggers write and write and see no traffic and end up giving up all together, what`s the point writing content when no one gets to read it because you`re not getting any traffic?
some sites get some traffic but not targeted and the traffic end up being useless.
buying traffic does not always bring the best results either, depending on where you buy the traffic, some visitors will be on a site just to earn the credits and are totally not excited with what`s on the site.
But all is not lost, low competition keywords can bring in targeted traffic which converts better than loads of untargeted traffic.Reason we all should research before writing a post and go for low competition keywords.

    Thanks for the comment Roamy and as you mentioned purchasing traffic is no guarantee for getting targeted traffic. Research is the best way to find out what people are wanting and how they are going about finding what they desire. Whether you use a keyword tool or even the search engines themselves, one way or another, you need to figure out the best keywords to write your articles on or purchase the keywords that will convert to quality sales from any marketing campaigns you may choose to do.

    Traffic is what it takes, but targeted traffic for proper conversions with the lowest competition is what wins the day for total profit when all is said and done.
