what is WP Engine now

Many ask “What is WP Engine?” They are a site dedicated all about hosting WordPress and nothing else. Many other providers cater to the masses and have two or more platforms where the website builders create your site using functions and features unique to the individual website builder.

WP Engine even offers free site migration if you’re coming from another provider that uses WordPress as their platform and to sweeten the deal they even give you a 60-day risk-free guarantee.

Many businesses and marketers prefer WordPress as their content management system to handle the heavy traffic loads and demands placed on the server. WP Engine has designed itself to handle these high demands with ease.

Anyone planning on using WordPress as their CMS platform for running one or more sites require a hosting company that can handle the dynamics WordPress offers. The majority of providers do not cater to the use of WordPress, and when they do, their prices can be astronomical for the system that are not usually built for WordPress sites. The other providers tend to offer budget memberships with a different platform or limited WordPress cms platforms.

For this review, we’ll look at a dedicated site that specializes only in WordPress hosting known to most as WP Engine.

WordPress, unlike most other platforms, is an open source program that has become the backbone that supports millions of sites around the world. It’s no surprise to find many of the other providers as well as WP Engine, using one of the world’s highly popular content management systems.

Here are some of the benefits of Wp Engine:

Enterprise grade security with multiple layers
Full-time engineering staff and lab team
Dedicated Word Press hosting
Real-time performance analytics
Highly scalable architecture
Speed reports on your sites
Excellent customer service
Variety of hosting plans
Very fast page loading
Almost 100% uptime
Firewall protection
Malware scanning
24/7/365 support
Developer tools
Daily backups
CDN-ready
Evercache
SSL ready

WP Engine Experience

WP Engine has created a hosting platform with the WordPress installation and plugins. Unlike some other providers, you are not required to install WordPress as the content management system is pre-installed for you.

When creating content, WP Engine functions the same as other self-hosted WordPress installations. You can create pages/posts and galleries with ease.
In fact, WP Engine is compatible with a large variety of available plugins. WP Engine has gone as far as to list some plugins that they do not support that cause a conflict with an adverse performance impact or duplication of features built into WP Engines platform.

For people familiar with 1&1, WP Engine does not offer a traditional Web hosting package, so you’ll be unable to upload a Linux or Windows based non-WordPress site and related apps up on their server. On the upside, WP Engine has many automated functions that include plugin updates and daily site backups. For your site’s page loading, there is a feature for proprietary Evercashe technology that combines caching and proxy servers to increase speeds. The staging area allows you to take snapshots to work on your pages without affecting the real site.

Included with the Business, Professional, Premium, and Enterprise Grade plans, but not the basic Personal plan, is a speed-enhancing content delivery network (CDN). For an additional cost of $19.95, the Personal package can have the CDN added.

No Domain Names or Email Hosting

WP Engine does not offer the registration of domain names through them or host for any emails through them.

When you plan on creating a site, you must go to a third party such as NameCheap or another URL registrar to register your domain name. The same applies to creating your email accounts by choosing a third party company for your electronic mail. With most other providers they include email with your hosting plans so this could be extra costs that you’ll need to consider.

Web Hosting Packages and Pricing

With WP Engine you’ll be able to choose between five hosting plans that give you daily backups, malware scanning, and unlimited monthly data transfers. These plans are Linux based, so if you require Windows-based hosting, then you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Personal
Professional
Business
Premium
Enterprise Grade

The fact is all the plans are pricey, to be honest with what some of the other providers offer.

what is WP Engine payment

Personal

The first and most basic plan is what they call Personal which starts at $29 per month.

The third plan is for Business which starts at $249 per month.

Below is the comparison chart for the different plans WP Engine offers its customers.

what is WP Engine plan comparison

E-Commerce and Email Marketing

With WordPress being an open source platform a tremendous amount of plugins are available, and WP Engine can tap into this massive library containing e-commerce tools. Such plugins could be WooCommerce, Shopify among other companies.

There are a numerous amount of email marketing tools for you to utilize as well. Some such plugins consist of Mailflow, Drip, DirectIQ and many others that companies offer to let you leverage customers email address for making money.

Dealing with e-commerce and email marketing companies, they will charge you a small fee for their services. One example is Shopify charges a starting fee of $9 per month.

Website Security Features

For people considering selling products through their site, then they should be using SSL (secure socket layer) Certificates. When customers send data from their computers, it is safeguarded to your site’s server. When you have one of the payment plans with WP Engine, this feature is included for free.

If your site was ever to get hacked, the Web Host states they’ll repair any damage free of charge. WP Engine performs daily scans for malware and has firewalls that get updated daily, blocking the latest threats.

Customer Service

WP Engine offers a 24/7 chat for all levels to use but the toll-free telephone support is for professional plans and higher. The personal plan at $29 does not qualify for that level of assistance.

Is WP Engine Recommended?

From my point of view and knowing what I do, WP Engine is not for the beginner and should only be considered by more experienced marketers. In fact, unless you have heavy traffic with high demands that would justify the costs for what you’ll receive then I would hold off on their services.

Companies and individuals that have high demand can consider using WP Engine to avoid their sites being shut down for excessive use of limited resources the budget companies offer you to operate your business with for your site.

For those people and firms that require far more resources than the norm then you’ll never suffer this problem at WP Engine. They understand the requirements and demands your site will need and using this CMS platform for WordPress will handle those needs by the designed architecture of their hosting platform.
For circumstances such as these, to get peace of mind and the stability of your business website, you should look at securing a dedicated hosting package with WP Engine.

With that being said and answering the question What is WP Engine? I would like to put forth a solution for the majority of marketers wanting the best of functions and features a WordPress platform has to offer without the hefty cost associated with it from WP Engine and other sites. Check out my #1 Recommendation for free as long as you like to see just how easy it is without the high costs. This is extremely important for you if you’re new to Internet marketing. Hi Travis, now I have better understanding towards WP engine. What impresses me the most is the pricey cost that they charge with the features I got. Those features still consider the basic and didn’t get the live support.

I’m glad that I’m chosen Wealthy Affiliate as my hosting server. It’s still the best among all the hosting out there.

I would agree with you Maxx that Wealthy Affiliate is the best around for the money.

There are many excellent providers around and have great training for their platform. As I have mentioned in the article, a website is just the beginning and SEO, and proper marketing of the site is crucial. Ranking on the search engines and receiving traffic onto your site is key to having success.

Unlike most other providers, Wealthy Affiliate gives you full training with continuous training to stay on top to help make your online business a total success. Well worth the money and especially when Wealthy Affiliate offers you more for less than some of these other providers that cost so much more.

Hi Travis,
This post appears to be about a host for bigger businesses than mine. The cost is ok, but for a 1 or 2 website business owner, who is an affiliate marketer, i don’t think WP Engine is the right fit.
I prefer a company called Wealthy Affiliate, where for close to $30 a month, you get training, hosting, domain registrar service, free SSL certificate and great support. Have you heard of it?

Hi Greg and like you I do not use WP Engine either. WP Engine is for much bigger businesses that require massive traffic or deal with large amounts of uploads, downloads or both. The majority of people working on the Internet do not need to go to such extremes in extra storage and data transfers or have to pay out the cost to do so when looking to make a six figure income.

Like you I have discovered Wealthy Affiliate and now use their services rather than pass providers I use to use for all my hosting needs. When you compare what you get for the cost at Wealthy Affiliate to any other place, then there is no comparison and WA wins hands down.
